Kitchen and Bathroom Upgrades in Surrey

Replacing a floor can change how a room looks, but the result depends just as much on what is underneath. Surrey Handyman installs laminate, vinyl and tiled flooring in individual rooms and smaller areas across Surrey. We check the existing floor, prepare the base where needed and fit the new flooring carefully around doorways, edges and fixed units, leaving the room ready for the next stage.

Time

How Long Do Kitchen and Bathroom Upgrades Take?

There is no single timescale because these projects can involve very different combinations of work. Replacing one or two fittings may take a day, while an upgrade involving cabinetry, plumbing, electrical work, flooring, plastering or decorating can take several days or be spread across more than one visit.

We will agree the order of work before starting and explain when the room will be unavailable. Drying or setting times for plaster, paint, sealant, adhesive or grout will also be included in the schedule where relevant.

What to Expect During a Kitchen or Bathroom Upgrade

A smaller upgrade still needs planning, particularly when several trades are involved. We start by agreeing what will stay, what will be replaced and which parts of the room need attention. The work is then quoted and arranged in an order that avoids undoing or damaging an earlier stage.

We agree exactly what is changing

We go through the individual jobs with you and confirm which existing fittings and finishes are staying. This keeps the project within the agreed scope and helps us identify any measurements, product details or access requirements before work begins.

The existing room is checked

We check the condition of the areas being worked on, including visible pipework, electrical points, cabinetry, flooring, walls and sealant. If there are signs of a leak, damp or damaged surfaces, these need to be understood before they are covered or replaced.

The work is put in the right order

We plan the order around any plumbing, electrical, cabinetry, plastering, flooring and decorating work involved. This makes sure each trade has the access it needs and helps prevent finished surfaces or newly fitted items from being disturbed unnecessarily.

Agreed fittings are removed carefully

Fittings and cabinetry that are being replaced are removed with care, while the items and surfaces that are staying are protected. If removing something reveals damage that was not visible beforehand, we will show you and discuss the options before doing additional work.

Each part is fitted and checked

New fittings, cabinetry and finishes are installed as set out in the quote. Plumbing connections are checked for leaks, electrical work is tested where applicable, and doors, trims, sealant or other finishing details are checked before the job moves on.

The room is left ready to use

Once the agreed work is complete, we clear away waste included in the quote and leave the area tidy. We will explain any drying or setting time and let you know when baths, showers, sinks, flooring or decorated surfaces can be used normally.

Customer Testimonals

Absolutely fantastic service!

We had a bathroom repair requiring wiring, plastering, redecorating and studwork. Khal worked incredibly hard, made good and even salvaged existing tiles and quartz to reinstall. We were delighted and would absolutely turn to Surrey Handyman again for small building works.

How We Make It Easy

Kitchen and Bathroom Upgrades FAQs

This service is for non-structural improvements that sit between a single repair and a full refurbishment. It can bring together several smaller jobs, such as fitting or altering cabinetry, replacing selected fittings, updating flooring, repairing surfaces, resealing or decorating. The exact work will be agreed and quoted in advance.

No. This is for smaller, non-structural projects where much of the existing room remains in place. A full bathroom strip-out and refit is covered by our separate bathroom renovation service. We will explain which service is appropriate after looking at the work.

Yes. You may want to keep most of the kitchen or bathroom and change only selected cabinets, doors, fittings or finishes. Send us a list and photos so we can confirm what can be done without disturbing the areas you want to retain.

Yes. We can assess the fitting, replacement or alteration of selected cabinets and units as part of an upgrade. Send us the product details, plans or measurements if you already have them so we can check what preparation and associated work may be needed.

Yes. Surrey Handyman provides plumbing and electrical services as well as general building and finishing work. We will identify which trades are needed and arrange the stages in the correct order.

They can if they are sound, suitable and do not prevent the new work from being completed properly. We will inspect the areas around them and explain if anything needs to be removed for access or to avoid an unreliable finish.

That depends on the existing pipework, drainage, electrical points and the amount of alteration involved. A small change may be possible, but it needs to be assessed before we can confirm the work or include it in a quote.

Possibly, for part of the project. Water or electricity may need to be isolated and some fittings cannot be used while adhesive, grout, sealant, plaster or paint dries. We will explain the likely disruption and plan the work with you before starting.

It depends on the number of jobs and trades involved. A small update may take a day, while broader work can take several days or require more than one visit. We will give you a realistic schedule once the scope has been agreed.

Yes. Kitchen and bathroom upgrades are treated as small building works and quoted before the job starts. The quote will set out the agreed work so it is clear what is included.
